Outreach/ Missions

By adopting a bag of food your whole family can be involved in serving together.  Just shop and fill a bag, that will be provided, with the items and quantities from a list that you will be given.  Then, return your filled bag to the church. These bags of non perishable food items will be given to those in need as an ongoing ministry. You can choose to fill a bag once a month or once every three months.  Sign up sheets, bags and lists will be available between services in the Narthex and at the church office. Please help us in this effort to reach out with the love of Christ to others in our community. There is a container in the Narthex for your donation or you can give it to Carol Campbell or Melissa Smith.  Thanks to all for your generosity! For more information contact Carol Campbell (256) 442-3009 or Melissa Smith (256) 390-0082.

Walk To Emmaus The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The program's approach seriously considers the model of Christ's servanthood and encourages Christ's disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all." For more information visit www.alaemmaus.org. You may also contact Buddy Berry.

Benevolence Meals Sometimes, meals seem like something that just happen. But as we grow closer to Christ, we want to be sure to reach those who are at particularly critical points of crisis. Gail Stewart coordinates these meals.

Hospitality Ministries Various community groups utilize SUMC facilities at different points during the year. These include Southside youth dance line, Scouts, Southside High Sports,  youth sports, and Weight Watchers. We want some of our folks to serve as hosts and hostesses for these groups that they may know the love of Christ. Contact Pastor Carrie for more on this opportunity.
